Bremelanotide is a peptide that acts on melanocortin receptors in the brain. It is FDA-approved for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) — low sexual desire that causes distress and isn’t explained by another condition, medication or relationship problem.
It’s a self-administered injection used as needed before anticipated sexual activity. Your provider decides whether it’s appropriate for you.
